Want breakfast in Muldersdrift? You’ve got a hotel restaurant, farm cafés and nursery tea gardens to choose from. Below is each place that a menu, the venue’s own site or a named listing says serves breakfast, with its area and hours.

This page is for the Saturday crowd, the cyclists who’ve earned it, and the parents who need coffee before the kids need a playground. We haven’t eaten at any of these, so any description of the food is the venue’s own words or a named source’s.

Avianto, Restaurant Cielo

Avianto says its restaurant is “not just for in-house guests; it’s open to the public”. Breakfast runs from 07:30 to 11:00. Walk-ins are welcome on weekdays, with bookings for larger groups, and bookings are recommended for the weekend breakfast buffet (Avianto). On Sundays, Avianto’s Bark Run starts at 08:00 from the Avianto Clubhouse (parking off Villa Road), and walkers and runners can have breakfast at the Avianto Clubhouse afterwards. Bookings are essential for the Clubhouse’s outdoor options (Avianto Clubhouse).

Casalinga Restaurant

The Casalinga restaurant describes its food as an Italian-style café menu made with fresh, natural and ethically sourced ingredients. Its hours are Tuesday 08:30 to 16:00, Wednesday and Thursday 08:30 to 21:00, Friday and Saturday 08:30 to 23:00, and Sunday 08:30 to 18:00, and you book through Dineplan (Casalinga). The breakfast section of the menu lists dishes such as shakshuka eggs, avo toast and a smoked salmon bagel (Casalinga menu).

Looking for Leafy Greens? Its site says that since 1 April 2026 it has moved back into the main Casalinga restaurant, with a reduced menu, so phone 087 941 1223 to check what’s on offer (Leafy Greens).

Garden World Tea Garden

What’s On in Joburg describes the tea garden as a “tranquil and outdoor setting”, with farmhouse breakfasts, cream scones, burgers and toasted sandwiches, plus an on-site bakery, an animal farmyard and a playground. Garden World has no website of its own that we could find, and the listing shows no update date, so phone 011 957 2046 before you go.

Ground Café

Ground Café is at Ground, a wedding and event venue on Driefontein Road. In Your Pocket says it serves Naked Coffee and that most seating is outdoors in the garden and on a large terrace. The 2026 café menu serves breakfast from 08:00 to 11:00 and has a kids’ meals section (Ground café menu, 2026). It’s open Wednesday to Sunday and dogs are welcome. Only part of the café is booked in advance through Dineplan, so walk-ins are fine but a table isn’t guaranteed (Ground).

On weekends, the Terrace at Ground runs a Brunch Club from 10:00 to 12:00. The Terrace doesn’t allow children under 12 or dogs (Ground). The phone number is 063 296 2274 (Ground).

Random Harvest Tea Garden

The nursery’s tea garden calls itself “a perfect breakfast venue” and says it regularly offers special breakfasts. It serves homemade sweet and savoury food, and singles out its tea and scones as a speciality. There’s a sandpit, the kids’ menu is growing, and children must be supervised (Random Harvest). It’s open on public holidays except Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Phone 082 553 0598 to ask what breakfast is on when you plan to visit (Random Harvest).

A Little Further Out: The Cradle

In the Cradle of Humankind, on the R540, The Cradle Boutique Hotel says its restaurant is well known for its breakfasts. It lists breakfast from 07:00 every day (The Cradle). Its site doesn’t say whether the restaurant takes day visitors, so phone +27 87 353 9599 first. Our Cradle of Humankind guide has the rest of the area.

How to Choose a Breakfast Spot: What to Ask

Some questions to ask first, based on what the venues publish:

  • Are you open today? Casalinga is closed on Mondays and Ground Café on Mondays and Tuesdays. Avianto’s restaurant and the Random Harvest Tea Garden list seven-day hours, and Garden World’s listing shows hours for every day.
  • How early do you start? Avianto serves breakfast from 07:30 and Ground from 08:00. Garden World’s listing gives 09:00 on weekends.
  • Until when do you serve breakfast? Avianto and Ground both stop at 11:00. If you’re a late riser, ask before you leave home.
  • Can I book? Avianto recommends booking for its weekend buffet, and Ground and Casalinga take bookings on Dineplan.
  • Are kids or dogs welcome? Random Harvest and Garden World have play areas, and Ground Café welcomes dogs. The Terrace at Ground doesn’t allow under-12s or dogs.
  • Is there a vegan or vegetarian option? With Leafy Greens now inside Casalinga on a reduced menu, phone to check.
