Chaos Doctrine Is Here!

Chaos Doctrine is here: Chaos Doctrine is a band that recently crashed onto the South African metal scene through the release of their track called CULT, which they say is the first single from their forthcoming debut album. I caught up with the band to find out a bit about them, their link to the West Rand, and their future plans.

My Westrand:
Tell us a bit about the band?

Chaos Doctrine:
We are Dr D on vocals, Ray and Alec on guitars, and Phil on bass and backing vocals.

MY WESTRAND:
What is your connection to the West Rand?

CHAOS DOCTRINE:
Two of us, Dr D and Phil, grew up on the West Rand and still reside here. Alec, originally from Cape Town, also stays in the West Rand.

MY WESTRAND:
Are you newcomers to the South African metal scene?

CHAOS DOCTRINE:
Oh no! Collectively we have well over 60 years experience in bands. Which probably tells you how old we are! (laughs). The band itself was originally formed in 2011, so we have spent a couple of years making sure everything is just right before making our music available.

MY WESTRAND:
Your track Cult has received very positive reviews. What are your immediate plans?

CHAOS DOCTRINE:
Right now we are finalising our debut album and preparing to take our music onto the stage.

MY WESTRAND:
When will we see you live?

CHAOS DOCTRINE:
Soon! We are planning an exclusive “friends of the band” event, followed by a full album launch, in the middle of this year.

MY WESTRAND:
Will you consider playing in the West Rand?

CHAOS DOCTRINE:
Definitely. We are already looking into suitable venues to bring our music to our home town.

MY WESTRAND:
Is there another track coming soon?

CHAOS DOCTRINE:
Yes… we will be releasing our next single as soon as its mixing and mastering are finished. We are also toying with the idea of releasing a cover version… to find out, you will have to wait and see!

My Westrand:
Thank you for your time, guys! Hope to talk to you again soon!
